Caring for the Earth Month Concert - 10:30am - Noon
Hilo, Hawai`i, USA 808.985.8725Performing and Fine Artists for World Peace, Recycle Hawai`i and the Palace Theater will be presenting the Caring for the Earth Month Concert on April 20 at the Palace Theater in Hilo. This free concert is open to all schools and organizations working with youth on the island of Hawai`i. A limited number of seats will also be available for the general public. Doors open at 9:45am and the concert will be held from 10:30am to noon.
This special event is being presented in celebration of the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day and is a project of ‘A Billion Acts of Green’, a program sponsored by the Earth Day Network. Recycle Hawai`i and Performing and Fine Artists for World Peace are members of the Earth Day Network and have a number of events and activities planned on the island of Hawai`i during April which focuses on recycling, resource awareness and sustainability
The concert will feature some outstanding performers. The Hawai`i Island group Kumanu will share their ‘global fusion’music featuring songs from the Earth Patriot, We Are `Ohana-Songs of Hope and See the Flame CDs. Recording artist and a finalist in the 2009 Miss Hawai`i Pageant Tioni Tam Sing will also be performing some of the music that she has recorded; and a special premiere of the stage production of ‘Creating Ha’ will be presented by an ensemble of performing artists that include Bolo, Andy Rising, Leilehua Yuen and Kamaluhia Woolley. Creating Ha is a culturally conscious, eco-minded play about finding important values in one's life. It shares the concept that everyone has his or her own road or voyage to travel to find awareness.
Organizations working on social, environmental and cultural issues will be sharing information with those attending the concet. Those attending the concert are being asked to bring a donation of canned food.
